JULIUS
Foreboding his obsession with the number 7, Tatsuro Horikawa who is born in July, the seventh month of the year, describes JULIUS_7 in seven words: “Black, Chaotic, Industrial, Techno, Avant-Garde, Contemporary, Minimal.” One of the definitive forefathers of the military-gothic scene, Horikawa began as a video jockey creating experimental audio visual projections for Tokyo’s underground club scene before starting JULIUS in 2001. ‘Black’ is the base of his creative palette because in Japanese Zen religion, it represents the “crazy darkness hidden in the shadows away from the light. It is the total color of complete and utter grief”. And now, relish in [ PERMANENT ], a reissue of iconic pieces from the legendary JULIUS archive.
